The baby nest: why is it so effective?
The Cocoon Ouatine & Cumulus were developed by two certified Nidcap pediatric nurse mothers specializing in the well-being and care of premature or full-term babies.
The brand was born in the neonatology department of a large Belgian hospital, where (very) small patients need support to conserve all their energy for continued development. The objectives of the hospital cocoons (the brand's first cocoons) were then:
- to help babies adopt an ideal position for their development and save energy for healthy growth,
- to offer babies a reassuring space to allow them quality sleep.
The range, previously hospital-only, was then expanded to allow all newborns to benefit from quality sleep.
The benefits of cocoons for babies
After a warm pregnancy in a reassuring environment, birth is a magical moment, but it also involves major changes for the baby. Once born, they must face gravity, the absence of limits around them, drafts, ambient noise, light... The idea is to (re)create a universe for them as close as possible to the one they knew in utero.

The cocoons are the result of many hours of observation. They were developed, tested, and adapted for over 2 years until the ideal cocoon was achieved.
