“Size 1” Cocoon
After a warm and cosy pregnancy in a reassuring environment, birth is a truly magical experience, but one that brings a huge change to your baby. Once outside the womb, your baby has to deal with gravity, the limitless world around them, draughts, ambient sounds and light.
Ouatine & Cumulus Cocoons have been specially designed to provide a safe space for your baby from birth. Your baby will be held in a comfortable flexed position similar to the foetal position and ideal for growth, in an enclosed space that provides reassurance, much like mum’s tummy.
The cocoon provides points of reference to the newborn, with contact points at the head and feet, as in the womb. This has a truly calming effect on your baby.
The side panels help to keep baby’s hands close to the face for reassurance and positive stimulation. The cocoons have a soft strap to hold your baby securely in place. They also have a little pouch pocket where parents can slip in a roll of fabric infused with their comforting smell to increase your baby’s sense of wellbeing. For maximum effect, we recommend changing the fabric every 48 hours.
Just like all of the Cocoons in the Ouatine & Cumulus range, the Size 1 is made using materials certified as OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

The “Size 1” Cocoon is ideal for newborns up to 4.5 kg (10 lbs). As your baby gets bigger and needs more freedom of movement, you need to move up to our “Size 2” Cocoon.
“Size 2” Cocoon
Still little but already getting bigger, your baby is now more used to being in the big wide world. Although Ouatine & Cumulus cocoons still provide a cosy, enclosed space to calm your baby, it is recommended that you reduce contact with their head, which is now more mobile.
However, if your baby still needs reassurance, this design features a pouch hood, where you can slip a muslin or rolled-up towel to help define the space around your baby’s head so they feel more enclosed. This can be particularly helpful for babies who are used to being carried.

The Size 2 Cocoon has a soft strap to securely hold your baby in place. There is also a little cloud in the chest area, where a dummy strap can be clipped on so that parents can quickly and easily find the dummy at night-time.
This design is ideally suited to babies between 6 weeks and 6 months old. Once your baby can turn onto their stomach, they will need to move up to the grow bag.
Grow Bag “Size 3”
Once your baby can turn over onto their stomach, they need to move up to the grow bag to give them even more freedom of movement. Ouatine & Cumulus grow bags feature a narrower design, to continue to support babies who like to have more limited space around them. These bags are also made using materials certified as OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.
Baby Comforter
Did you know that newborns have a gripping reflex when they need reassurance? If they can't find anything to grab hold of, they might harm themselves by trying to grab their ears, nose and cheeks. This is why the Ouatine & Cumulus baby comforter has long, slender ears and a little padded tail.
