The benefits of “Size 1” Cocoons
After a warm and cosy pregnancy in a reassuring environment, birth is a truly magical experience, but one that brings a huge change to your baby. Once outside the womb, your baby has to deal with gravity, the limitless world around them, draughts, ambient sounds and light.
Ouatine & Cumulus Cocoons have been specially designed to provide a safe space for your baby from birth. Your baby will be held in a comfortable flexed position similar to the foetal position and ideal for growth, in an enclosed space that provides reassurance, much like mum’s tummy.
The cocoon provides points of reference to the newborn, with contact points at the head and feet, as in the womb. This has a truly calming effect on your baby.
The side panels help to keep baby’s hands close to the face for reassurance and positive stimulation. The cocoons have a soft strap to hold your baby securely in place. They also have a little pouch pocket where parents can slip in a roll of fabric infused with their comforting smell to increase your baby’s sense of wellbeing. For maximum effect, we recommend changing the fabric every 48 hours.

The “Size 1” Cocoon is ideal for newborns up to 4.5 kg (10 lbs). As your baby gets bigger and needs more freedom of movement, you need to move up to our “Size 2” Cocoon.
